PORTABLE RADIATION PACKAGE (PRP)
The Portable Radiation Package (PRP) is an integrated system for making measurements of atmo-
spheric downwelling radiation. A Precision Solar Pyranometer (PSP) measures total broadband (0.285
to 2.8µm) downwelling shortwave (solar) irradiance. The Precision Infrared Pyrgeometer (PIR) mea-
sures the broadband (4--50 µm) downwelling longwave irradiance. The Fast-Rotating Shadowband
Radiometer decomposes incoming shortwave irradiance into direct-beam and diffuse (sky) irradiance
and these are used to compute the aerosol optical depth (AOD) in six 10 nm wide bands (415, 500, 615,
680, 870, 940 nm). A seventh band is a broad open Si cell. The PRP package includes a pitch-roll-
