ISAR-01 (HORIZON SPIRIT)
ISAR-04 (NYK ANDROMEDA LEADER)
The Remote Measurements & Research Company (RMR Co.) works closely with
the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science
(RSMAS) in the development and deployment of the ISAR instruments on research
vessels and in the VOS (Volunteer Observing Ship) program. ISAR was developed
at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton UK (NOCS).
Andromeda Leader The NYK Lines car carrier Andromeda Leader makes routine trips between the U.S. and Japan. The ship is employed by Toyota and crosses the Pacific approximately every six weeks. Currently, AL has departed JP and is now headed for Portland by a northern great circle route. Andromeda Leader log
Horizon Spirit The Spirit is a container ship owned and operated by Horizon Lines. The ISAR provides sea surface temperature data for the
Department of Energy's (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) climate research program.
For the year (10/2012 to 10/2013) the Spirit will operate the Ocean-going ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) as part of the
Magic Cloud Study.

R/V Mirai The research vessel Mirai operates a new ISAR (sn 6) on it's research cruises. There currently are plans to add real-time telemetry to this program.
